The Yachats Center for Lifelong Learning presents A Celebration of Japanese Art & Culture.  Space is still available in workshops, including katazome, Japanese style basketry, and calligraphy. Free lectures and demonstrations include The History of the Kimono, Sake 101 (at Ona Restaurant), Calligraphy, and Origami.  A gallery of Japanese Art is open throughout the program in the Overleaf Event Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Raffle tickets for Asian Fan, a collage print by Newport artist Marion Moir, are available at the gallery and at several stores in Yachats—proceeds will go to the Lions Club to support their collection of items washed ashore from the Fukushima tsunami. The Green Salmon Coffee Shoppe will serve a variety of Japanese teas, pastries and lunches. Class schedules and locations, fees, instructors, and more information about the event available on the website.
